We would like to take this opportunity to share some exciting news about a few of our alumni students. It may sound somewhat sentimental, but we really try to create a family atmosphere at STEM³. We frequently reach out and stay in touch with former students and families. We do this for several reasons. We worked with many of our alumni every single day for many years—we miss them and are simply curious how they are progressing with their post-secondary lives. Another reason is that we want to gauge how effective we are, as a school, for preparing our students for a successful transition to college or the work force.
We are pleased to say that we have recently connected with a number of our alumni students—and we are absolutely thrilled by their accomplishments. One former student is attending UC Davis and is on the Dean’s list—earning a 4.0 GPA in all his upper division classes. In addition, although he is technically finishing his sophomore year there, he is considered a junior. Basically, he will be finishing UC Davis with a baccalaureate degree in three years. He is studying Environment Science and Resource Management and plans on going to law school after graduation.
Another student is also finishing out his sophomore year at CSU Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo studying Animal Science and Biology. He is flourishing there and enjoying the beautiful central coast while rigorously engaging in taxonomy and classification of animal species.
Lastly, we are beyond ecstatic for one of our alumni who was just accepted to the prestigious University of Chicago. The University of Chicago is ranked #3 in the nation (just behind Harvard and Yale)—and less than 3% of applicants get accepted there. This student will be studying mathematics and will certainly make an impact in the world of academia. And he was one of our own 😊
All of our students have different talents and pathways ahead of them though. Our STEM³ team is proud of them all and consider ourselves blessed that we can be part of their educational journey.
